Communicate UK secure new Fire Alarm Contract with iconic local Pub and Restaurant

Michael-Mahoney

Based in the quaint village of Purleigh just outside Chelmsford is the Purleigh Bell. This beautiful pub and restaurant has been an ale house since 1635. Lawrence Washington - the last member of George Washington’s family to live in England, was a regular in the early C16th. Today they are a popular and well known traditional English tavern with open fire, hops hanging from the beams serving good ale and hearty food.

Communicate UK have been appointed to install a compliant fire alarm system to comply with local authority and insurance requirements as part of a complete building refurbishment and kitchen move due to be complete Christmas 2019.

Our Challenge

The process of restoring and refurbishing an old building can be a fraught with unforeseen difficulties, especially when the business needs to continue to trade during the development. Our challenge was to work closely with the builder to ensure the installation of the new system could be scheduled with minimum disruption to their clientele.

The Solution

Andrew Miller, Managing Director, Communicate UK conducted an in-depth site survey working closely with the building contractors to design the installation of a compliant fire alarm system in two stages.

The Addressable Fire Alarm System:

  • Wireless smoke detectors and wireless fire call points in areas of the building where it was not possible to hard wire.
  • Addressable system to allow for activation information to be stored in the main control panel.

The Result

Phase 1 is complete. The compliant fire alarm system is now installed in the working areas of the building with Phase 2 commencing January 2020 after a full kitchen move and extension.
